Doing Research Online

ONLINE RESEARCH
Online research allows the student to complete almost the entire research process through an online tool that Walter Reed Middle School subscribes to called NoodleTools.

Below are instruction sheets that explain how to enroll, create projects, create a Works Cited, and how to take notes in NoodleTools.

Creating a NoodleTools Account  Use these instructions to create a NoodleTools account. You will need to see Mr. Bobrosky in the library to get the school user name and password, which is required only when you create the account. Once your account is created, you will use your own user name and password.

Creating a NoodleTools Project   Use these instructions to create a research project. Your teacher should provide you with the project title, sharing information and the to-do list. Your teacher may also provide the research question, thesis statement, and sub-topics for the project

Adding Sources Into a NoodleTools Works Cited   Use these instructions for adding sources to the Works Cited. YOU MUST ADD THE SOURCE TO NOODLETOOLS BEFORE YOU START TAKING NOTES FROM THE SOURCE. Instructions are provided for a database article, web site, and book. Many other types of sources may be added, see Mr. Bobrosky in the library for assistance.

Preparing for Notetaking in Noodletools   Use these instructions to help you create the project outline with your sub-topics. These instructions do not give detailed instructions on using the note card feature. See Mr. Bobrosky for assistance.
